David Swisher receives a small cigar business as part of a debt settlement.

Hundreds of cigars are rolled by hand every day in a one room “manufactury.” Newark, Ohio

DAVID SWISHER’S SONS, HARRY AND JOHN, PURCHASE THE COMPANY FROM HIM AND RENAME IT. SWISHER BROTHERS.

Swisher Brothers grows to three factories, over 1,000 employees and makes 300,000 cigars per day.

John renames the company after buying his brother out and hiring his son, Carl. Jno H Swisher & Son

Carl relocates the company’s headquarters to Jacksonville, FL.
1927

The Jacksonville plant is doing so well that the Ohio facilities are closed and consolidated into the Florida plant.

1930

Swisher’s hiring record earns the company a Forbes Magazine “Certificate of Merit.”

Swisher builds the nation’s first industrial children’s nursery on the top floor of the building.

Swisher’s King Edward becomes the world’s best selling cigar.

The Jacksonville plant becomes the largest cigar factory in the world.

Swisher expands by opening a number of other facilities in the nearby tobacco-growing areas for handling processing, storing and shipping the huge quantities of tobacco needed.

Jno H. Swisher & Sons introduces Swisher Sweets brand cigar.

The company makes a total of four million cigars per day and ships to all fifity states and forty-seven foreign countries.

Swisher Sweets Little Cigars begin to land on store shelves. Swisher products are now sold in more than sixty countries around the world.

Swisher grows through several acquisitions including the purchase of Helme Tobacco Company, manufacturers of smokeless tobacco products.

Swisher released its first Limited Edition cigarillos.

Swisher acquires Drew Estates.
